Hi all, feel a bit bad posting this after reading about our Jenni.

I saw Laura today, and she has said I need to cut back on work. She asked if the meds were helping, as she said my inflamation markers are beginning to go down. I said I feel about the same. She suggested adding pregabelin for the fibromyalgia to help me sleep better, as the amtitriptyline not doing much. She hqs prescribed 2 capsules of 75mg per day. I told her that the tramadol doesnt seem to do anything, and she said I need to be on an anti inflamatory as it will work better, but dont know why I dont have them prescribed.

I have an appt with consultant on 16th July, so maybe he will prescribe them then. Just thought I'd let you know.

Hello Barbara, I know it's difficult for you to cut down on work, I know you have said before that not something you can do. I would be interested to see how you get on with the new drug because I looked on the net to see about meds for Fibro and was thinking about asking my Rheumy if I could try something different, I''m now taking 50mg of Amitriptyline. Tramadol 300mg, Naproxen and paracetamol, I'm still in a great deal of pain and terribly tired and I'm still off work, I though it would be worth trying something else. Naproxen is an anti inflamatory. Glenys.

Hi Glenys, sounds like a good idea to ask about different meds. Do you take tramadol at 300mg or do you mean 100mg x 3
I was on naproxen bedfore diagnosis, my gp prescribed it, but when she decided its osteoarthritis she took me off them saying that I dont have an inflamatory illness. After diagnosis I was onlhy offered the tramadol and paracetemol. Its hard to explain about pain, it seems that its a case of "well, thats all we can give you" and also the "give it time to work" surely painkillers should work straight away i,e, up to one hour after taking them, not weeks or months after!!
OK rant over!!! Will have to see what consultant says in July, unless I can get my gp to prescribe them, I have an appt for a medicine review next week

Sorry to hear you are in limbo again Barbara. If you can get the anti inflammatories they do help with the pain very quickly.

Hi everyone, melly, yes I am diagnosed with asthma, but have never had an asthma attack, its just a night time cough, for which I take singular and preventer pumps, I never use the releiver pump (salbutemol) and I am sure that someone else on here said that they have asthma and still take the anti inflamatories.

Have my gp appt on Monday, so maybe he will be able to help.

My back is killing me tonight, and feet and hands swollen as usual. Willl have a vey early night.

Just one more thing, does anyone else have problems with getting on the site? i have it on favourites, but it wont work, so type in nras and when google brings it up it doesnt do anything and stays on the page. Eventually I get on by going into one of the other sections. It takes ages though.

Hoping everyone has a good weekend, its meant to be a sunny one!! So for everyone who can make the most of the sunshine!! Smile

Hello Barbara. I meant 150 x twice daily. Although it does feel like these don't do much I find if I leave them off I am so bad that I can't do anything. I try to have breaks from the Naproxen because I am at a high risk from heart attack and stroke but it's the same as with the Tramadol that they don't seem to be helping until I leave them off. The Naproxen do work better for me when I have been on them for a couple of days though. It's does get you down trying to live with pain dosn't it and when you are working and constantly pushing yourself to keep going. So if there is something out there that could help then I think I would like to try it.I had that problem with the Naproxen Rose but it did get better, I always take them with food even if it's just a banana. Glenys. x

Hi Barb

A close friend of mine who has fibro has just been put onto Gabapentin and she reckons they are not only helping her to sleep but have also helped a great deal with the pain.

Hi Barbara

After a particularly bad flare the gp put me on meloxicam anti inflamatory- 15mg after breakfast. It has helped me quite a bit. I also take tramadol at night which helps me sleep.

Hope you get things sorted soon

Maria, will have a word with my gp about the meloxicam will write it down before I go!!

Thanks for all the help, what would I do without you!!!??? lots of love Barb x xConfused
